LA-IX // Vida Weeks – Scoreboard

scorecard-vida

Stage One // “Commercial Shoot”
Judge #1

Performance: A-
Vida executed her poses really well. It looked like she was deliberate in everything she did.
Variety: A
She used a lot of triangles, but other than that, she changed things up enough to make the shoot interesting.
Creativity: B+
Her locations were different, but I would have liked to see a prop.

Judge #2
Performance: A
The model seems to have a good grasp on the importance of nailing her poses at the correct angles for the photographer. That said, there were times in her shoot where she lacked in this department.
Variety: A+
Faces. Locations. Poses. Everything was changed up so that no two photos seemed too much alike. The model did a fantastic job at staying away from the status quo.
Creativity: A
It’s important to have variety in your shoot, but it’s equally as important to have good ideas. You shouldn’t rely on the photographer or a coach to hold your hand throughout the entire shoot. The model appeared in a wide variety of unique photos, and based on everything else, I deduce that she must have had input into what happened. The only thing that didn’t rock my world was the rest of the outfit – minus the shirt. Something more colorful or eye catching would have been great.

Judge #3
Performance: A+
Wow!!! Vida was on a roll throughout her shoot! She did all of her poses very well!
Variety: A+
Another A+ from me! Way to change it up, girl!
Creativity: A+
Very creative shoot! Looks like she really planned this!

Stage Two // “Scream Queens”
Judge #1
Performance: B+

The model seemed to struggle with pulling off the shoot’s concept throughout the first part of her shoot, but it appeared that she “got it” toward the end.  She delivered some great expression and body language to show that she was terrified – it just took her some time to get there.
Variety: B+
There was variety from the model, but not always the right kind.  There were times when she was making goofy faces or laughing – the opposite of the theme’s concept.  When she was focused enough to nail the right look, she gave a good performance, but there wasn’t much in the way of variety.
Creativity: B
The outfit was rather ordinary and, in some situations, that would be okay.  In this shoot, it would have been nice to see “who” her character was.  It looked as if she didn’t put much thought into the shoot at all.  Maybe this kind of shoot is also not in her wheelhouse.

Judge #2
Performance: A-

Vida looked like she was having a lot of fun!  It’s always good to have fun in your shoots, but you still have to give the photographer what they came for and she kind of did that.  Would have been nice if she was more serious about it more in her shoot.
Variety: B+
Vida didn’t give a lot of variety.  I’ve seen a lot more out of models in this shoot.  I’d be interested to know how much time she spent practicing for this.
Creativity: B+
Didn’t get a feel for what she was going for other than she’s a scared girl.

Judge #3
Performance: A+

Loved it!  She reminded me of someone in Scream.  Really expressive faces!
Variety: B
I couldn’t give her a higher score here, because she didn’t give me a lot of variety when she was acting scared.
Creativity: B+
It’s not the most creative idea from this shoot, but I still liked it!

Stage Three – Urban Swimwear
Judge #1

Performance: A
Facial expression was kept soft even with some of the odd poses. Other than that, I would have given this a perfect score in this category.
Variety: A-
Lots of variety here and that kept things interesting, but she did try some of those poses a bit too much. I saw the upside down pose in two different locations.
Creativity: A-
Liked how she had props and played well with her surroundings.

Judge #2
Performance: A-
She gave a variety of poses but a few times she was unaware of things coming between her and the camera and really gave too much attention to one odd pose that was different but not flattering.
Variety: A
She did try some different things but she looks like she was focusing too hard on landing the poses and forgot her face.
Creativity: A-
Very cute and ethereal choice in wardrobe looks great on her. I like the idea of the hula-hoop but it did take the focus off her a little bit but I can see she was still thinking about her pose while using it. A few creative poses were more awkward and maybe over thought out?

Judge #3
Performance: A
Very comfortable in front of the camera, she had awesome angles and expression in her eyes, especially.
Variety: A+
Her poses were sharp and she took risks and kept angles clean. Very natural presence.
Creativity: A-
Swimsuit choice looked great in the shots with foliage but blended her a bit too much in the graffiti shots. Overall great look.

FINAL SCORE: 77
